Description:

Xavion is the iPad’s answer to modern avionics. It is both a glass cockpit and a copilot for your airplane.Xavion gives you synthetic vision, GPS navigation, and instrument backups. Plus, in an engine-out situation, it will guide you to landing at a nearby airport!5-STAR “. . . Xavion is a highly useful tool that improves pilot's situational awareness—and it sure could come in handy in the case of an actual in-flight emergency!” — Dave Hirschmann of AOPA Pilot » Read more in the April 2013 issue of AOPA Pilot!Xavion, from the creator of X-Plane, was created to help you fly safer. What can Xavion give you in your airplane?- Glass cockpit-style synthetic vision- Engine-out guidance to the safest nearby runway- Point-to-point GPS navigation- Backup versions of your primary flight instruments- Weight & balance checks- Estimated fuel burn and time of arrival at various altitudesNever worry about an in-flight failure again. Xavion is always imagining the worst, so you don't have to! It constantly runs engine-out flight simulations behind-the-scenes as you fly. The app imagines an engine failure every single second, and it checks how your plane would do in a power-off glides to every runway at every airport in gliding range. For each of these simulated engine failures, Xavion estimates the likelihood of a successful landing based on the runway's length, width, proximity to the aircraft, and glide path from your current location down to the threshold of that runway. When Xavion has found the runway that it believes is most likely to result in a safe engine-out landing, it builds a series of hoops from your current location to that runway---spiraling, circling, or extending as needed in order for the hoops to follow a constant descent angle that your airplane should be able to sustain without power. What's New

NEW HARDWARE SUPPORT:Dual XGPS170 support! This is a very nice GPS and ADS-B receiver. It does NOT give attitude, but your iPad or iPhone gives attitude information, so the Dual gives ADS-B and GPS.I have found that this unit gives pretty good ADS-B reception, and never overheats!ADS-B WEATHER REFINEMENTS:Wind, METAR, and NEXRAD data should all expire at the right time. This level of refinement is how we are moving as we continue to get more rigorous about ADS-B weather reading and display.GRAPHICS REFINEMENTS:Sky color tuned a bit to be more distinct from the water, especially at low brightness settings where it is really needed.Click-regions for data-entry SLIGHTLY larger, to help a little bit more on the phones, where the interface is pretty small. In the FMS screen, if you enter a fix that is not in our database, then Xavion warns you that you have requested a fix it does not know about. As well, in the FMS screen, room to enter more fixes, as requested.
